Dimitrios Lymberopoulos

Professor - University of Patras, Greece

Short Bio

He was born in Tripolis, Greece, in 1956. He received the Electrical Engineering diploma and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 1980 and 1988, respectively. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, where he lectures on communication systems, multimedia communications, and telemedicine services. Since 1982, he has been involved as a Technical Supervisor in various research projects funded by the Greek Government, the European Union, the Greek Telecommunication Organization, and the major Greek Telecommunication industries. He has authored or co-authored over 130 papers in international journals, conferences and technical reports. His research interests include medical communication protocols, telemedicine, contex awareness, next generation networks, web multimedia services, data management in medical applications, teleworking (telemedicine) development platforms, and medical communication networks. Prof. Lymberopoulos is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Greek Society of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

George Anastasopoulos

Assistant Professor, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece

Short Bio

He received the diploma and the Phd in Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology from the University of Patras, Greece, in 1989 and 1996, respectively. He is Assistant Professor and head of the Medical Informatics Laboratory in the Medical School of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. Also, he is cooperative Professor in the Greek Open University. Since 1990, he has been involved in various research programs funded by the Greek Government, major Greek telecommunication industries and the European Community. His current research interests include artificial intelligence, medical image processing, compression, medical telecommuting applications, medical databases and Internet applications. He has published more than 50 papers in International Journals and Conferences. Dr. Anastasopoulos is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and also a member of Greek Medical Technology and Informatics Company.
