Ambient Assistive Technologies for Intelligent Healthcare Services

Special Session Call for papers

You are cordially invited to submit your contribution in the Special Session on 'Ambient Assistive Technologies for Intelligent Healthcare Services' organized within the 'International ICST Conference on Wireless Mobile Communication and Healthcare (MobiHealth 2010)'. This Session aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to engage in an in-depth discussion on various research and deployment issues regarding ambient technologies for intelligent healthcare services, pervasive healthcare technologies and applications, services' personalisation and management in assisted living environments, intelligent interactive services environment for assisted living.

Topics covered:

We encourage submissions from both academic and industry sector. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Lecturer - University of Piraeus, Greece

Short Bio

He is a Lecturer in the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus. He has held position as a Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Ioannina and his Ph.D. from the National Technical University of Athens, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests are in the area of Communication Networks, Healthcare-Telemedicine, AAL Technologies, Neural Networks, GRID Technologies, and Computer Vision. He has participated in several projects funded by EU and National Agencies and has several publications in journals, books and conference proceedings. He has served in technical program committees of several conferences. He is a guest editor and a reviewer in several journals.

Ilias Maglogiannis

Dr - University of Central Greece, Greece

Short Bio

He received a Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Greece in 1996 and 2000 respectively, with scholarship from the Greek Government. From 1996 until 2000 he worked as a Researcher in the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory in NTUA (www.biomed.ntua.gr). From February of 2001 until June 2008 he was a Lecturer with the Dept of Information and Communication Systems Engineering in University of the Aegean (www.icsd.aegean.gr), and since 2008 he is Assistant Professor in the Dept of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics in the State University of Central Greece (www.dib.ucg.gr). He has been principal investigator in many European and National Research programs in Biomedical Engineering and Informatics. His published scientific work includes three (3) books (Springer, IOS press and Morgan Claypool Publishers) and five (5) lecture notes (in Greek) on Biomedical Engineering and Multimedia topics, fifty (50) journal papers and more than seventy (70) international conference papers. He serves as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine Journal and editorial board member of the Journal on Information Technology in Healthcare. He has served as guest editor in IEEE EMB Magazine (special issue on Signal and Distributed Data Processing for Networked eHealth Applications), Oncology Reports (special issue on Computational analysis and decision support systems in oncology), Simulation: Transactions of the Society for Modelling and Simulation International (special issue on Performance Modelling and Simulation in Healthcare Information Systems) and Applied Intelligence (special issue on Artificial Intelligence Application and Innovations). He has also served in program and organizing committees in national and international conferences (65) and he is a reviewer for several scientific journals (24). His scientific activities include biomedical informatics, medical image processing and telemedicine. Dr. Maglogiannis is a member of IEEE - Societies: Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Computer, Communications, SPIE - International Society for Optical Engineering, ACM, the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Greek Computer Society and the Hellenic Organization of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Maglogiannis is also a national representative for Greece in the IFIP technical committee TC 12 (Artificial Intelligence-Knowledge-Oriented Development of Applications) and member of the Working Group on Leading-edge Applications of the eMobility technology platform. Dr Maglogiannis was Chair of the AIAI06 and AIAI07 3rd and 4th IFIP International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Application and Innovations (www.icsd.aegean.gr/aiai2006 and www.ait.gr/aiai2007) and Program Committee Chair of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd ACM International Conference on Pervasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments PETRA08 and PETRA09 as well as member of the Founding and Steering Committee of the PETRA conference series.
